Removal instructions for W32.Blebla.B.Worm (Romeo & Juliet) 

    4Help provides these instructions to assist you in the removal of this computer virus. If these instructions do not remove the virus from your system, 4Help recommends that you contact your computer vendor. The use of up-to-date anti-virus software will help prevent your computer from becoming infected with viruses.

  • Anti-virus software installed on the infected computer

Virus removal:

Overview:

  • Download and run the registry fix tool
  • Update your virus definitions
  • Scan your computer for infected files
  • Re-associate file types as necessary

 

  1. Print out these instructions before proceeding.

    • Select 'Print...' from the 'File' menu.
  2. Download the registry repair tool. 
  • Right click this link:  http://filebox.vt.edu/ais/antivirus/tools/fixbleblab.inf
  • Choose 'Save Target As...' or 'Save Link As...'
  • Enter your PID and password and click 'OK'.
  • When prompted for a location to save the file, choose a location that you will be able to find easily such as your desktop or floppy drive.
  1. Go to the location where you saved the the 'fixbleblab.inf' file.
  2. Right click on the icon and select 'Install'.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Update your virus scanner definition files:
    • If you are using Norton AntiVirus, run LiveUpdate to download the latest virus definitions.  For more information on how to run LiveUpdate, click the following link:  http://www.answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/1392/.
  5. Perform a manual scan on your computer to detect and delete any infected files.
  6. Restart your computer. 
  7. Download and install the security patch from this URL:

Known Issues:

  • Some of your files are no longer associated with their proper applications.  (Some icons may have a generic image.  Running some files may cause an 'Open With' window to appear.)  Simply double-click on one of those files and choose the application you wish to use in the 'Open With' window.  Example:  If you double-click on a file ending with .doc, select 'WINWORD' and click the 'OK' button.
